Gaston Pizza

Simply catastrophic… I placed my order, and the delivery time was respected. However, the pizza was really bad: the crust wasn't cooked all over and it was very thick. The tomato sauce wasn't even on all the slices. Then, the worst part: when I picked up the pizza, I saw the state of the kitchen… an absolute mess. The woman who served me was covered in flour, everything was disorganized and dirty. I sincerely recommend they address this issue. An apron wouldn't go amiss for this woman, who, by the way, was quite nice…

Gaston's pizzas aren't for everyone, of course, as they have a distinctive taste. If you want a strong wood-fired flavor, sometimes even charred, and something nice and greasy with plenty of toppings, Gaston's is the place to go. If you prefer a neutral or even bland taste... a pizza from a big chain or supermarket will do just fine. And besides, Gaston's are the cheapest around. A real treat and guaranteed to fill you up! :)

I don't understand the negative reviews. Having eaten pizzas costing between €18 and €20 in Montpellier, and having eaten one from Gaston's priced at €11, honestly I prefer Gaston's because at least I'm satisfied.

I knew Gaston Pizza from 1995 to 1998, and at the time it was undoubtedly the best wood-fired pizza in Montpellier. Having returned to the area in 2022, I wanted to show my daughter the pizza that was her mother's favorite from her student days. On my first visit, it was more than mediocre, nothing like the richly topped pizzas with crispy crusts of the time, but still edible. My second visit tonight was a huge disappointment. We ordered a Basilic where we couldn't see the mozzarella or the basil, and a Quattro Stagioni where there were barely any of the listed ingredients. What's more, both pizzas were badly burnt, completely black around the edges, about 2-3 cm deep. And to top it all off, it turns out they can't pay by card, only cash, and when I realize I'm only 50 cents short, there's not even a gesture of goodwill. I still had to make a round trip to the ATM at the Prades post office to get the exact amount. The young woman at the counter shamelessly gave me the runaround for 50 cents while serving me a burnt pizza that didn't match the menu description. What a shame... a legend gone... We've been getting pizzas from Gaston for several months now, and they're always delicious and ready on time. The welcome is always warm, and taking your order is quick and efficient! And seriously, almost all the pizzas are €11!! So no hassle, and it's really cheap; they could easily cost €15 elsewhere! Plus, you're supporting a local artisan, rather than a chain or a multinational corporation!

Very good most of the time, but this time it was more than disappointing... a young man in charge served us pizzas that were completely black... burnt to a crisp... Tasteless except for the taste of charcoal! Given the thickness of the crust, it was extremely thin, not the usual thickness.
